I eat the same thing every morning. When it’s time to get up and face a brand new day, I feel this “Oh yeah, it’ time to eat” excitement vibe running through me. When I’m finished, I think “Damn, that was good!”
Every. Day.
Regarding breakfast, I’m curious if most people are like this or do most people thrive on variety.
My magical breakfast is…CEREAL! Is that exciting or what? It’s simple, but still not as simple as it sounds.
Mike’s Super Vegan Cereal (amount are estimates, I do not measure or count)
- 1 cup of Fiber One cereal
- 1 cup of Bran Flakes cereal
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 1 handful of unsalted almonds
- 1 1/2 cups of soy milk
mmm…can’t wait until tomorrow morning.
If, God forbid, we are out of one of these components, I’ll do a little switcheroo. We have 6 boxes of Fiber One delivered to our door from Amazon.com on a regular basis, so that’s always in stock. If we’re out of Bran Flakes, I’ll substitute another 100% whole wheat cereal, usually regular Cheerios. If we’re out of almonds, I’ll use walnuts. If we’re out of walnuts, I’ll use pecans. We have never been without almonds, walnuts, AND pecans. If no raisins, I’ll use another dried fruit. We usually have dried apricots, prunes, dates, cherries, and sometimes even blueberries.
If we’re out of soy milk, I know that my whole day is ruined and I don’t even bother getting out of bed.
Just kidding.

That’s funny. (The ruined day, not getting out of bed part.)
I can’t speak for the planet, but I know I eat the same thing most mornings and most people I know do. Breakfast is not the time to get creative. If you have something you like, is good for you and you’ll eat regularly, then do it! My favorite is a sandwich. I don’t really like sandwiches. But I like breakfast food less, so the sandwich works to get me through.
Your cereal sounds good. But I hate milk or any variety, so cereal is not enough to get me through a morning. GREAT snack idea, though!
